" For My Father "
Very Little is known about the life of Angus MacIntosh, from all accounts he was was of the first teachers in the Big Brook area. He was a violin player. he married about 1855 to Catherine MacLeod, daughter of Donald and Nancy MacLeod who emmigrated from the Isle of Skye about 1832. They had four children, Roderick, John, Alexander and Flora Ann, if it weren't for his son Roderick, there would be no story to tell as none of the other's had children.
Angus, Catherine, Roderick and John are found in the 1861 census, His household consists of 3 males, 2 under the age of 10 and i female. In the 1871 census he reported that he was born in Nova Scotia. In the 1881 census for Inverness County, he reported that he was born in Scotland. And yet on his death certificate, his son reported him to having been born in Margaree. Family lore has it that, in his later years he roamed , travelling by foot, visiting family and friends alike, he would turn up unannounced and they did not know how long he would stay. In the last years of his life he stayed with an unrelated MacIntosh up on MacIntosh's Mountain, staying out of sight because of the cancer he had in his face. He is buried in the MacIntosh Family Cemetery in an unmarked grave.
As the search for more information continues, some very interesting family ties begin to immerge..............
